Giving, Sharing, Caring

Have you ever thought why me?  I ask this because in my neighborhood when a crisis arises, I seem to be the one sought out by many of my neighbors. Some of whom I only know casually.  Depending on the situation I try to assist even though I may not feel up to the task.  I believe in letting people know that everyone one in the world is not cruel and selfish.  Good things will happen if you do nice and caring things for others.

I still believe that a neighborhood can act as a family even though some members may be distant relatives.  I assist those that request it and I make sure the others know that I am there if needed. These values were instilled in me during my upbringing.  So that is why I try to carry on this tradition. In my time, communities raised children and in my opinion that needs to continue.  As a whole we have strayed from this and we can see the repercussions of this in the demeanors of the children today.

  1. Julia, I love this post. Not only can I hear your heart as I read it, but it echoes what I see demonstrated every day in your work here at Trinity School. It is the selfless expression of love extended to others that brings a community together. Thanks for being one of those people who does it every day.

Because of people like you, I know that communities still raise children, even if that community isn’t your neighborhood. I value that so much and am grateful to you every time you tell me that you saw my child’s work on the bulletin board or them walking back from the nurse. Thank you for sharing this important message that reminds us all of our call to be there for others.

    Julia,

Thanks so much for sharing your very important message about caring for others. You truly walk the walk everyday – it is obvious how much you care for all of us!

  4. This is beautifully said. In a world that is overly busy, overly hurried, and just overly overly — this is such an important message for all of us to hear. Community is a notion that we can carry in our hearts — an idea and a feeling that we can and should care for others who are right in front of us, or out of our reach, but still valuable and important. Thank You — you have always been to me someone who reminds me that love governs the universe.

  5. Thank you for sharing such an important message. Trinity is very blessed to have you here and I appreciate all you do.

  6. What a beautiful message, Miss Julia. Thank you for such an important reminder of the impact community has on everyone.

    Julia,
How true your words are. People count on you because of who you are, and because they know they can. I also believe in communities raising children………which is why I count on you with “my babies”!

My very first day at Trinity ended with a warm welcome and hug from you. I immediately sensed that you valued community and connections. Thank you for the post. Thank you for always asking about my boys as if they were your relatives. Lastly, thank you for all that you do!

  9. Julia, You are humility in action. I appreciate all you do and the joy that you do it with! Thank you so much!
